USA Travel Bucket List

What’s your USA travel bucket list?

Since we have been stuck at home, I found myself daydreaming about where I would want to travel once this is all over. I realized that there is a long list of places I have not been to yet.  Traveling and taking vacations play a huge part in our physical and emotional health.  Therefore, being able to escape from everyday life is a great way to recharge and rest your mind and body so you can manage stress.  In addition, traveling helps you to experience different cultures and explore places and traditions you wouldn’t normally be exposed to. This is good for your soul! If you are fortunate to have the means to travel, it can be one of the best things you can do for your health.

Lately, I have been reminiscing and looking through old photos of the trips I have been on.  I have always loved capturing moments wherever I go. Photos have a way of taking you right back to that moment in time and can bring a lot of joy. Either way, it is a fun activity to immerse yourself in anything that doesn’t involve watching TV. Although, I do love passing the time watching the Travel Channel!

As a kid, my family did not travel far but we did explore many local destinations in the Tri-State area. We took many trips down to the Jersey Shore from Pt. Pleasant to Long Beach Island, one of my favorites! Being a family of four did not always allow us to travel to far and exotic places but that’s ok. We spent a lot of time on the amazing Jersey beaches and amusement parks. In addition, we visited upstate NY and the Poconos mountains which are filled with lots of activities and beautiful landscapes.

We got the opportunity to visit Disney World a few times when I was younger so that was a real treat! There were lots of road trips and so many interesting stops along the way. Besides Florida, I didn’t travel on a plane again until I was a senior in college to go on spring break in Cancun, Mexico. Now that would be a great post but let’s leave that for another time. It may take a while to even remember what happened on that trip… but I can tell you that the pictures were amazing!

Travel Memories with Family & Friends

My sister and I were travel partners for a while and we had lots of adventures. We vacationed in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Captiva Island, Sedona, Nashville, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and the Bahamas. We always talked about doing a cross country RV trip but never got around to it. However, it is definitely still on my list!

My friends and I also shared a lot of adventures down the Jersey shore, California, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Caribbean cruise to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Barbados, Dominica, Martinique, and southern Florida. I always wanted to travel more with my friends but that got harder once they settled down and had kids. My college friends are planning a trip to Aruba to celebrate all of us turning 50 in a few years so that will be epic!

Love & Travel

In the last several years, I have been able to travel with my fiance and his kids which is always an adventure!  What sticks out the most is the Disney cruise that went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Bahamas, and Cozumel. To be honest, the cruise was so great I would go back even without the kids!  The unforgettable memory from that trip was climbing Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica. That was a terrifying but incredibly beautiful climb!

Our family went to Disney World last year and Universal Studios a few years ago. Fun times! My favorite vacation so far with another couple to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. We stayed at an adult-only resort, Melia Caribe Tropicale, and it was the most relaxing trip to date. I remember not wanting to come back home! My fiance and I plan to go to Italy at some point in the next 5 years which is still my #1 bucket list destination and always will be!

  1. I really need to make me a travel bucket list. I was going to take my kids to all the states but now I am down to 2 kids and a whole lot of states. I need to get on the ball. Life just sometimes passes so fast and then it’s too late. Better now than never though. 🙂

  2. Suzan | It’s My Sustainable Life

I’ve really been wanting to do the big loop through the Blue Ridge Mt range. Spend some time honky tonking in Nashville would be great. Hopefully soon!

  3. I really want to head to the Grand Canyon! Certainly on my list. One of these days going to figure out what states I have been to and start visiting the rest!

  4. I have been to 19 states. Besides my own, my faves are North Carolina (love the coast) and Florida(my BFF Mickey Mouse lives there). I did a similar post called my Travel Bucket List. It has 15 US destinations and 15 International ones. It is fun to research and dream about what we would want to do there. As for a Disney Cruise, we have been on one 9 times. It is one of our favorite vacations.

  5. I’ve been to 19 states so far. All 50 are on my bucket list, really. But if I would have to pick my top 3 to visit next, they would be Tennessee, Arizona, and Oregon.

  6. I have been to 22 states if I counted correctly. The USA has so many amazing places to visit. We have made it a part of our trips to go to as many National Parks as well.

  7. Great photos and list! I have pretty similar destinations I’d like to hit up in the future. I’m hoping to take my husband to Disney World ASAP. We were supposed to be going next week so now we just have to wait and see. I’ve been a million times and used to work there so I can’t wait to share my original home with him.

  8. Good idea to look back at pics of trips right now. Inspiration! Looks like you have been on plenty of good ones. As for states, I’ve got 32 – more to go!

  9. Wonderful bucket list! These were some of my faves from your list. I think my state count is around 25, but a few more are a bit fuzzy.
    Great Smokey Mountains- Tennessee
    Acadia National Park- Maine
    Napa Valley-California
    Hawaii- beaches and volcanoes
    Zion National Park, Utah

  10. UM Football Stadium is a must! GO BLUE! There’s so many great things to see in Michigan! If you have the time, go up to Mackinaw Island.

  11. I have only been to Sedona and every time I reread the blog post I wrote about it I enjoy the thrill of seeing it again. I only had a cheap cell phone at the time. I hope to revisit with my new camera. My bucket list is long!

  12. Great US travel list! I’d visit any of those too. So far I’ve been to 29 states. I’m really lacking in the US NW.

  13. I have been to 41 states, and God-willing, I’ll be going to 5 more before the end of 2020. Let me know when you start planning your trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Cleveland has so much to offer!

  14. I have traveled to very few states. And never out of the country. You are very lucky to have done all the traveling you have. I see Idaho is not marked. It’s a beautiful state! lol Thanks for sharing all of your travel pictures!

  15. We have hit many of the places you outlined and they were on the bucket list. I still have so many places to go in the US. I would love to have hit all of the National Parks at least.

  16. So many great places to visit! I’ve been to 41 states… getting so close to finishing them all

  17. How fun and exciting to have traveled so much! I have a downpayment for a Disney cruise, to take my 7 kids, cousin & her husband (I wasn’t allowed to take all 7 kids alone according to cruise rules) for THIS October. It is from California to Mexico…we will see if this cruise is still available…

  18. I would love to do more traveling especially to Disney World, we are planning to go there one day but first we are going to take our son to Disneyland since it is closer to us here in Washington. Plus when we go he will only be 3 or 4. Nevertheless I am super excited to go when the time comes. I have never really left the west coast so my list of states I have visited is very small.
