Simple Self-Care Tools That Help Me Feel Better Every Day

Living with chronic pain has changed the way I look at self-care.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist for over 21 years, I’ve helped thousands of clients find relief from pain and stress. But what many people don’t realize is that I also walk this journey myself. I live with Fibromyalgia and have battled Lyme Disease, chronic pain, and the daily challenges that come with them.

Some days are better than others. I’ve learned that there isn’t one magic solution. Instead, healing comes from practicing small acts of self-care consistently. These simple tools help calm my nervous system, reduce stress, and make my pain more manageable—and that’s exactly why I created the wellness resources in my shop.

Start by Listening to Your Body

One of the biggest lessons chronic pain has taught me is to pay attention to what my body is telling me.  Keeping track of pain levels, energy, sleep, and stress has helped me identify patterns and make healthier choices.

Gentle Movement Helps Reduce Stiffness

When Fibromyalgia flares up, the last thing I want to do is move—but I’ve learned that gentle stretching often helps me feel better.

A few minutes of slow stretching can reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and ease muscle tension.

Breathing Can Change Everything

Stress almost always makes my pain worse.

When I notice myself becoming overwhelmed, I stop and focus on my breathing. Deep breathing helps calm my nervous system, quiet my mind, and release tension throughout my body.
